Reset or Rejoin? The Choice for Brexit Britain, with Brendan Donnelly.
On Sunday 2nd March, North Herts for Europe hosted a Zoom seminar with Brendan Donnelly from the Rejoin EU Party. Donnelly served as an MEP from 1994-1999, initially as a Conservative before leaving the party due to its anti-European policies. During the seminar, titled Reset or Rejoin? The Choice for Brexit Britain, Donnelly discussed the “reset” of UK-EU relations happening under the current government, and his scepticism about this. Donnelly also discussed how the UK’s participation with only certain aspects of the EU when it was a member state paved the way for Brexit. The “reset” happening post-Brexit continues this trend of the UK cherry-picking and engaging with only parts of the EU. The alternative to this, rejoining the EU in full, would see the UK engage with the entirety of the EU’s political and economic benefits.
